Worship and Values

What is the point? We are just small, insignificant people. If God created the whole world why should God love us? Why would he bother? Why would he love any human, they are so small! What can we do for God? There is nothing of real worth, I mean look at the mountains, they are massive. The Sun is immense, the seas roar very loudly! But us, who can walk up to the top of a mountain or sing louder than an ocean or a sea. And who can warm someone better than the sun!

God made the galaxy in which we live, how can we compete? Is it about competition?

This is who God is – he made us and gave us reminders of his love for us!

First of all, in Genesis, God makes us in His image- God is in community, us humans love to spend time with other people. He is three in one (Father, Son and Spirit) we are kind of three in one (Mind, Body and Soul). He loves us, we love us.

Next Jesus came and died on a cross to save us from our sins; the bad things we do. If you ever forget that, Google Laminin. We are held together by this. Literally, our bodies wouldn’t be right if this protein wasn’t there! Also, if you look through the Hubble Telescope at the furthest thing, you can see the Whirlpool Galaxy. There are three reminders of God’s love for us, he made each of us like him and the closest thing and furthest thing we can see remind us of when he died for us. Finally, God gave each and every one of us a plan, a gift and a breath of His awesome life.

You know, the fact that God loves each of us so much makes me want to jump and clap and sing.

We are asked by Jesus, to Love God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength.

For some, loving God this much means more than just singing. I asked a few people how they like to worship (show their Love for God). Here is how they said they feel they worship God best:

* Through singing

* Through building relationships with others

* Through dance

* Through drawing and sketching

* Through eating healthily

* Through reading my Bible

* Through understanding how awesome God is

* Through praying in everyday situations

* Through making dresses

* Through taking photos

* Through spending quiet time with God

* Through helping others.

God has given us all gifts and abilities. Some of us are still looking forward to finding out what they are. These gifts can be used to worship God. We can sing we can dance; we can draw; we can preach. As long as we are glorifying God with what we do, we are worshipping him.

I would like to encourage you to pray this prayer over your lives:

“I am valued by God, who has given me a gift. Therefore, I am going to use my gift to worship Him.”

Contributory Bible Passages:

Genesis 1:27

“So, God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.”

Mark 12:30-31

“And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind and all your strength.”

Romans 12:1

“And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies as a living and holy sacrifice – the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly to way to worship him.”

John 1:3

“God created everything through him. And nothing was created except through him.”

Colossians 1:16

“for through him God created everything in the heavenly realms on earth. He made the things we can see and the things we can’t see – such as thrones, kingdoms, rulers, and authorities in the unseen world. Everything was created through him and for him.”
